The Terrace Times

Principal’s Message

Good afternoon Parents / Caregivers,

And welcome to our second Newsletter for the year.

P&C Meeting
The first P&C meeting is on tonight. The first meeting for the P&C for the year is always the Annual General Meeting.  The AGM is a great meeting as it sets the agenda for the year and our office bearers are also established.  Our P&C have been wonderful supporters of our great school over the years and we ask you to consider joining as a member.  Do not feel pressured to take on a role, just come along and see what you think!   The P&C are all volunteers, relying on volunteers and highly value anyone willing to volunteer their valuable time.

Easter Holiday
The Easter Holidays will fall in the middle of Term One this year with Good Friday on 30 March. School is closed on Monday 2 April and Tuesday 3 April giving students a 5 day break. School will re-open on Wednesday 4 April.

Voluntary Contributions
Thank you to all families who have paid the Voluntary Contributions for 2018; it is greatly appreciated. All monies collected assist with the provision of student resources to enhance teaching.  At the end of Term One there will be a raffle held for all who have paid their contributions with the prize to be announce soon (it’s going to be big so watch this space).

Coles Sports For Schools
Our boxes are filling up with Coles sports vouchers but we still need lots more. The more vouchers we collect the more sports equipment we can get for the school. We have a collection box at Coles Bassendean and one out the front of the library, so let’s keep filling them up. Tell your friends, neighbours and relatives about this great programme and have them save their vouchers for our school. Good luck and let’s keep collecting!

Head Students
All 2018 Prefects applied to become Head Students earlier this term.  The Prefects sat through an interview in front of a panel of Ms Amanda McAlpine, Mrs Liz Page and myself (daunting huh?).  Every student presented and represented themselves beautifully and should be extremely proud.  It was an extremely tough decision to make; in the end Jazmin Hutton and Kaleb Stratton were selected as Head Students for 2018.  Congratulations to Jazmin and Kaleb … you will represent our school admirably.

Have a great week,

Stuart Blackwood
Principal

Aussie of the Month

The Aussie of the Month award recognises personal endeavour, achievement and contribution to the community.

The awards also reflect some of the values we share as Australians, a sense of fair play, generosity of spirit, commitment to community participation and a real concern for the environment.

Twice a Term, two students are chosen as the Aussies of the Month and the recipients are presented with the Aussie of the Month badge and certificate at a school assembly.

The certificate and badge is kept by recipients as a memento of the occasion.

Congratulations to Arye and Louisa our Aussies of the Month for February. Well done!

Edu-Dance For Students in Pre Primary to Year 6

We are into week 3 of the very exciting and energetic Edu-Dance program. Edu-Dance is now conducted every year and has the support of your School Council and P&C as an integral part of both our Arts and Physical Education program. This program is conducted by qualified instructors with children attending one session per week. This will culminate in a concert toward the end of Term 1. Edu-Dance are outside providers and therefore there is a cost per student ($32.00). This costing has been approved by your School Council as part of the “Contributions and Charges Schedule” for 2018.  Money should be paid as soon as possible using payment envelopes available through your child’s class teacher and at the school office, or via the Qkr! app.

Thank you to the parents who have already paid.
