Harmony Day
It was so good to see so many students wearing orange or traditional dress at yesterday’s Harmony Day Celebrations. A huge thank you to the McCarthy family who had three generations of Maori Men perform the Haka in front of the whole school. The day was culminated with every child in the school blowing bubbles on the oval. A huge thanks to Mrs McCulloch and Ms McAlpine for the organisation of the day. (Check out the photos later in this newsletter).
Easter Holiday
Next weekend are the Easter Holidays. Please note, the school will be closed on Friday 30 March (Good Friday) through to Tuesday 3 April (inclusive) giving all students a 5 day break. School will re-open on Wednesday 4 April.

At the end of Term one there will be a raffle held for all who have paid their contributions with the prize to be announce soon (it’s going to be big so watch this space).
Onyas !!
Do you know of an Anzac Terrace staff member that deserves to be acknowledged for the work they do? Has this staff member gone above and beyond their role? Has this staff member impacted your life and / or others? Has this staff member helped to make Anzac Terrace such a great Primary School?
If so, why don’t you let them know? I am pleased to inform you there is now a way to do this. Anzac Terrace PS staff now have the Onyas !! (as in Good Onya – Well Done) If you would like to acknowledge one (or more) staff member for doing such a great job or going that extra mile, come into the School Office and fill out an Onya !! All staff will receive these recommendations from you plus go into the weekly draw to receive a “get out of duty free” card from me. So please, get nominating.
Have a great week,
Stuart Blackwood
Principal
Harmony Day is a day to celebrate Australian multiculturalism. It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of their cultural or language background.

Message From Your School Council
Greetings Parents and Friends,
As we approach Easter it is high time for an update from your School Council. In week 4 of this term, we had the first School Council meeting of the year. The meeting attendees paid tribute to those parent council members whose terms had ended and to the staff members who had moved on from the council. We acknowledge the hard work of parent members, Nan and Sally and thank them for their service to the school. We would also like to thank staff members, Christine Thompson and Liz Page for their services.
Entering the big shoes of the departing members, we welcome some new members to the Council. Thanks to Mike Smith and Rebecca Benson for nominating to be parent members of our Council. We are also grateful to Susan DeWitt for joining us on the council this year as a staff representative.
After a welcome of new members, the positions of Council Chair and Secretary were vacated pending an election of members to fill these roles in 2018. Happily Steph Tarbin was returned as secretary and yours truly was returned as chair.
As your new council, just a reminder that we are here to serve you! Please feel free to contact us about anything you would like to have raised at our next meeting. We can be contacted in person, through Mr Blackwood or via email ATPS_Council@outlook.com.
Kind regards
Adam Cheetham
ATPS Council Chair.

Swan Park Leisure Centre Junior Programs
Swan Park Leisure Centre runs a junior basketball competition and coaching program that coincides with the school term. This 10 week program works on the fundamentals of basketball and allows kids to develop their skills while also playing games every Saturday from 8am until about 3pm. The next season commences on the 5th May.
Kids are placed into teams or can nominate their own team with a group of friends.
It is $80 per term to play as well as $8 per coaching session.
We also run a junior soccer program that is similar to the basketball program. Training sessions are run on a Monday between 4:30pm and 5:30pm and games are on Thursday evenings starting at 4:30pm. Cost is the same as basketball. Date of commencement is first week back at school.
Additionally we will be running a three day basketball camp during the April school holidays on the 18th-20th April. The days run from 8:30am-3:30pm and kids will learn many skills and have a great time.
