Welcome to the latest edition of From The Principal’s Desk

Welcome Back

Can you believe its term 4 already? Welcome back to what promises to be a bumper term. It will be Christmas before we know it … that’s a bit scary.

Welcome

A warm official welcome to Miss Stephanie Teudt. Steph has joined our wonderful staff for Term 4 replacing Callan Bosley who has joined the Police Force. Please join me in making Steph feel welcome at Anzac Terrace PS.

CanTeen – Bandanna Day

As part of their role as student leaders, our prefects have chosen their charity to support this year. In our brainstorming earlier this year, a number of very worthy charities were listed; but in the end it was a unanimous decision to choose CanTeen. In short, CanTeen support teenagers who are dealing with cancer.  They do this by hosting National Bandanna Day. National Bandanna Day is the major fundraising and awareness campaign for CanTeen Australia, held each year on the last Friday in October.

To help raise funds for this very worthy cause, the prefects will be selling bandannas from the start of school tomorrow all the way through to National Bandanna Day on Friday 25th October.  The students will be set up in the courtyard between the school office and the Deputy’s office. Bandannas will be $5 each and students will be allowed to wear them at school from tomorrow up until the end of school on Friday 25th October.

The prefects will also be hosting a car wash on Friday 25th October; I will send more information out about this event closer to the day.

Surf Online Safe

As mentioned in our last newsletter, I am very pleased to announce that on the 26th November Paul Litherland will be presenting to our Year 5/6 the potholes and pitfalls of online surfing. Paul will explain to students what happens to photos that get uploaded or texted or sent via social media. He will also explain the issues and concerns with children who use apps like SnapChat/TicTok/Instagram/Facebook/Twitter etc.
As well as the presentation to students, Paul will be presenting to all parents who would like to attend. This is a free event, but a ticketed event. Please visit the Official School Facebook page or “click on the link” below to secure your seats at this event.

But hurry, soon I will be releasing tickets to surrounding schools to attend this very sought after event.

Voluntary Contributions Raffle

I am pleased to advise you that Ziggies (our Student Requirement List providers) will be providing three full Student Requirement Lists to our lucky raffle winners this term. How do you get a ticket I hear you ask? If you have paid your Voluntary Contributions, you automatically get a ticket in the draw. Haven’t paid your Voluntary Contributions yet? Don’t stress, you still have the opportunity to do this. You can either come in to the school office this week or pay via the Qkr! App. The first draw will be NEXT WEEK, with the second and third draw to follow in the weeks after. Good luck !!

School Photos

For the majority of the school, School Photos will take place on Tuesday 29th October (with catch up photos for Kindy Gold on Friday 1st November). Packages envelopes were sent out at the beginning of the week … make sure you don’t miss the deadline

Term 4 Calendar

Our Term 4 calendar was put up on our website and Connect today. Here is the link in case you missed it

2019 Term 4 Planner

Semester 2 Reports

Semester 2 reports will go home to parents/caregivers on Monday 16th December to allow you enough time to meet with your child’s teacher and discuss the report if necessary. Every parent (except Kindy parents) will receive their child’s report via Connect. They will be uploaded so that you can download it to share with family or just to view it on screen.

Connect is run by the Department of Education and is secure; it stores your child reports for the length of their primary and secondary education. If you need help with logging in to Connect, make sure you speak with Lina or Lorraine in the School Office and they will help you get access.

P&C Disco

The P&C are hosting a Halloween Disco on Friday 1st November. Please see the flyer here  Halloween Disco

Make sure your child comes along in their scariest costume to win a prize.

Parents/Caregivers, the P&C are organising a food truck and coffee van for you to indulge whilst your child is boogying the night away. These are only for adults as students will be able to buy food and drink in the disco.
