THE TERRACE TIMES

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Parent/Caregivers

The last three weeks of term have been very busy with many exciting activities such as the Inter-school jumps and throws which were held on Monday of this week as well as the Inter-school Athletics Carnival on Wednesday September 19.

One of the highlights of the last three weeks was the Parent Open Night held last Wednesday between 4.00pm and 6.00pm.

It was wonderful to see so many parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and members of the school community coming along to see the outstanding work being produced in each classroom. The classrooms were beautifully presented with marvellous student work on display for everyone to see.

I would like to thank all staff for the enormous effort in ensuring their students’ work was on display for the night and for the way each classroom was presented. I would also like to congratulate all students for all their hard work throughout the term.

Please note that the first Monday back in Term 4, Monday October 8 is a School Development Day for staff therefore students are not required to attend. Classes for students will begin on Tuesday October 9.

As this is the final newsletter for the term, I would like to wish all staff and students a safe and relaxing holiday break.

Kind regards,

Ian Bersan
Acting Principal

Aussie of the Month

The Aussie of the Month award recognises personal endeavour, achievement and contribution to the community.

The awards also reflect some of the values we share as Australians, a sense of fair play, generosity of spirit, commitment to community participation and a real concern for the environment.

Twice a Term, two students are chosen as the Aussies of the Month and the recipients are presented with the Aussie of the Month badge and certificate at a school assembly.

The certificate and badge is kept by recipients as a memento of the occasion.

Congratulations to Olivia and Neve our Aussies of the Month for September. Well done!

Being a Reading Sensation

As most of our students read each night, the BEARS reading program is not extra work for students, parents and caregivers or teachers, it is simply a method of calculating the number of nights the students read, and then rewards them at strategic numbers, eg 50, 100, 200 and so on.

Well done to the following students who have read for –

P&C Sausage Sizzle

A Big Thank You to all of the helpers and volunteers that gave the P&C a hand at the Faction Carnival! We couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you.

It was a great success even if the rain made it difficult.

Here are 2 of our hard working Dads that cooked all those Sausages!

Have a Safe and Happy Holiday
