The Terrace Times

Principal’s Message

Good afternoon Parents / Caregivers,

Welcome to this fortnight’s edition of the Terrace Times.

Child’s Safety
Thank you to all the parents that contacted me regarding the safety and ‘Duty of Care’ of their children both before and after school.  To reiterate, it is not safe to tell your child to play in the playground at school until you get there to pick them up.  This is a dangerous act.  You cannot assume that because there are other parents around, that your child is safe.  Twice this year, children have been left in the playground unattended after all other families have gone home.  We have gone to great lengths to ensure that we have fantastic facilities available to you through OSHClub if your child cannot be picked up at 2:45pm.  Please take advantage of their wonderful service or make other arrangements with your family members to care for your child after hours.

School Council
A big thank you to all parents that initially expressed interest in the School Council Parent Rep positions and thanks to those that applied.  Please read the blurb from Adam Cheetham later in this newsletter advising the successful applicants.

Winter Netball
Thanks to the coordination and hard work from Joanne Fealy (a Mum at our school), this year we are starting a netball club at Anzac Terrace Primary School. All teams will be playing for our school, but under the Swan Districts Netball Association. As this is our first season, we will only be able to organize teams for Year 3(NetSetGo Competitive), Year 4(NetSetGo Competitive) and Year 5(Division 1 & 2).  Please read the attached flyer outlining information about this great initiative and for more information or registration forms, please contact Joanne Fealy on 0438 667 859 or email at joannefealy@gmail.com

ICAS Testing
Anzac Terrace will again be participating in ICAS Testing this year.  Mrs Liz Page will be coordinating the tests this year.  Please have a look at the information later in this newsletter outlining costs and dates.

Don’t Forget
Don’t forget to come to Anzac Terrace PS this Saturday 11 March to vote in the State Election.  Our wonderful P&C will be hosting a Sausage Sizzle to raise much needed funds for our school.  Come along and support the P&C and our school.

Have a great week,

Dear Parents and Friends,

It is my privilege to inform you that the following parents have been elected unopposed to two/three years terms :-

Steph Tarbin
Adam Cheetham
Rachael Bernsousa

I have re-nominated for another term as a Parent Rep as my first term had expired.  Steph has (kind of) changed seats from P&C Rep to Parent Rep and we also welcome Rachael to her first term as a Parent Rep.

At the P&C AGM Meeting, Prakash Shakya was nominated and accepted the position as P&C Rep. Welcome to you as well Prakash.

Our first meeting for the year will be 3:00pm next Thursday 16 March 2017.  To be informed about matters discussed in the School Council meeting I encourage you to read the minutes of the meeting which will be available on Connect and the school website in the near future.  If the minutes raise any questions for you or you would like to provide us with feedback please feel free to do so via email at  ATPS_Council@outlook.com.  We value your input.

Kind regards,

Adam Cheetham

Ex Student News

Anzac Terrace Primary School would like to acknowledge and congratulate Ella Steiner for being awarded the Bassendean Young Community Citizen of the Year. This was awarded to Ella for her outstanding volunteer work in Bassendean. Well done Ella!

Come Sizzle some Sausages with the P&C!

The P&C are organising a Sausage Sizzle at school on Saturday 11 March during the election. We’re looking for volunteers who’d like to help out for an hour on the day. If you’re free between 7am and 2pm and can spare at least an hour, please contact Jessica Ericson on jessicaericson_89@hotmail.com

A week later, the P&C get to host a Sausage Sizzle fundraiser at Bunnings Morley. We’re looking for volunteers for that event as well. If you’ve got at least an hour to spare on Saturday 18 March, between 8am and 4.30pm, please email Marieke van den Berg on mariekevandenberg@westnet.com.au

Your help is essential in making P&C fundraisers successful. The money the P&C raises goes directly back to benefit your children.

This summer, the P&C funded and built the new Nature Playground in the Junior playground and we’re fundraising this year to build one in the Senior playground.

Thanks for helping the P&C!
