From The Principal’s Desk

Welcome to the first edition of the Terrace Times for 2019 … and the last edition.

Newsletter

Our traditional fortnightly newsletter is changing and will no longer be produced like this.  In consultation with our website designer, we are changing the fortnightly newsletter to more of a Principal’s Blog.  This will be called “From The Principal’s Desk”.  The reason behind this change is to keep our community better informed with School News and Events, and to provide you with more up-to-date information rather than having to wait up to a fortnight.  We will still have sections for BEARS readers and Honour Certificate winners, it will just be in a different format to make sure it is all current.  Every time ‘From The Principal’s Desk’ is updated, you will still receive an email alerting you to the update.

School Council

At this point in time, we have only received one nomination for a Parent Representative for our School Council, with three positions available.  If you are interested in nominating as a School Council Member (but have not got around to it yet), please contact the School Office at your earliest convenience.  Information on duties/roles of School Councillors are available on our website.
I will keep nominations open until next Friday 22nd February.

Classroom Information Evening

On Friday 22nd February, the school will be opening its doors for Parent Information Sessions.  Every class teacher will hold a quick information session, followed by a Q&A session in class to set the tone for the year.  Please see the schedule below for when your child’s class teacher will be holding their session.  We know there will be some clashes within some families … Teachers will make contact with you directly if there is a clash.
Whilst all these sessions are taking place, I will be near the Undercover Area running a free Sausage Sizzle for parents and students, so come and see me and have a chat and a snag !!

Edu Dance

Edu-Dance is up and running and speaking with the students this morning, it is the most fun thing at school … Ever.  If you haven’t already done so, can you please ensure you make payment of the $35 via payment envelopes in the School Office or via the Qkr! App. Please make an appointment to speak with me if you need to make payment arrangements.

50th Anniversary Celebrations

It was great to see so many families and original students from 1969 at our official assembly on Monday.  It was a great way to kick off celebrations.  Our next big event is our Fun Day on 15th March.  A flyer with details has come home today.  The organising committee are looking for volunteers who might be able to help out on the 15th March.  Even if you could spare 30 minutes, it would be a great help.  Could you please contact Rebecca Benson on 0414 169 460.

Have a great week,

Stuart Blackwood
