Principal’s Post 8 March 2019

Apologies

I need to start this new Blog with an apology to all families.  It came to our attention on the 19th February that families had not received previous communications regarding our School Development Days for 2019 or our parent information sessions.  These were sent out (or so we thought) via Connect in early November after the School Council approved the dates.  Once we realised our Connect notices were not received, we re-sent the year planner.  We are in the process of changing the way we communicate with all families to ensure this mis-communication does not happen again.

Heads Up

The Town of Bassendean have informed the school that they will be targeting parents in the coming weeks who are parking in the wrong areas both before and after school.  The bus bay on Anzac Terrace is their focus area, but also parking across driveways and in ‘No Standing’ zones around our school.

Before School

A quick reminder to parents and students that it is a requirement of students (who arrive before 8:20am) to be seated outside of their classrooms waiting for the classroom to open.  This is a part of our risk-management policy as students cannot be supervised before this time.  If you have any issues or concerns about this policy, please make time to see me at your earliest convenience.

50th Anniversary

Who is getting excited? One week to go until our 50th Celebration Fun Day.  My thanks to Rebecca Benson, Steph Tarbin, Amanda McAlpine and their team of parents and staff who have done a mountain of work to ensure the day is a huge success.  Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Swimming Carnival

Notes for the upcoming Swimming Carnival will be going home to students in Year 3-6 in the coming days.  Please read the notes carefully, as the information in the note is pertinent to both the swimming trials and the swimming carnival.   Parents will have to sign off of their child’s swimming ability and event participation in both the trials and the swimming carnival.  Trials will take part on Wednesday 20th  March and the Swimming Carnival is on Friday March 29th March.

School Council

Congratulations to Tamara Breen who was elected as a parent representative to the School Council. Tamara brings a wealth of experience to the role having previously been our P&C President.  There is still one Parent Rep position available.  If you are interested in joining the School Council and being part of the decision making process at Anzac Terrace, please contact the school next week.

Kids Club Easter Play

The Kids Club will be performing their Easter Play on Wednesday 10th April.  The play is Christian-based and about the true meaning of Easter.  If you would like you child to not attend this play for religious/cultural/moral reasons please contact the school to opt-out.

Edu-Dance Concert

Save the date … The Edu-Dance Concert will be held in the afternoon of Thursday 11th April.  More details will follow closer to the date.  If you have not already paid for the Edu-Dance program, can you do so in the coming days.  If you would like to discuss a payment plan for this event or any other school events, please contact the school.

Have a great week,
