Principal’s Post 29 March 2019

Wow …

What a hectic term this has been. The 50th Celebrations have taken centre stage and demonstrated what a great community we have here at Anzac Terrace. From our formal assembly to our Fun Day, we have had tremendous support and attendance from not only our families, but also the surrounding community. What a wonderful advertisement for our great school.

Pavers

Did you miss out on the opportunity to purchase a paver on the Friday night of our 50th Celebrations? We are creating a special Memorial Path at the front door of our great school. Become a permanent part of our story. Place your order before the 10th May to ensure your place in history. Order forms can be found in the 50th Anniversary link on our website.

50th Celebrations

How good was our 50th Celebrations on the 15th March? What a great event. My thanks to the sponsors … Hawaiian, Town of Bassendean, Lottery West, Dave Kelly, Ziggies and of course our wonderful P&C; they made that night possible with their financial support. The people who made it happen? Rebecca Benson, Steph Tarbin and Amanda McAlpine … My heartfelt thanks to these fantastic ladies. Without their hard work and tireless dedication, that day would not have transpired.

Kids Club Easter Play

The Kids Club will be performing their Easter Play on Wednesday 10th April. The play is Christian-based and about the meaning of Easter. If you would like your child to not attend this play for religious/cultural/moral reasons please contact the school to opt-out.

Easter Raffle

The P&C are holding an Easter raffle and would love any donations towards prizes. Please hop into the Office and pop them in the Easter box provided for your kind donations by the 5th April. Also, tickets for the raffle went home today with students; Tickets are 50c each or 10 for $4. Easter Raffle will be drawn 10th April 2019 after the Easter Play in the Assembly area. We thank the P&C for their ongoing efforts to fundraise for our great school.

WA Massed Choir

I am very pleased to announce that our Senior Choir will be performing in the WA Massed Choir at the Perth Concert Hall on the 24th September this year. We will be performing 10 songs with seven other schools on the night. For parents of a student in the Senior Choir, tickets for this event will sell out quickly. As we get more information about ticket sales we will pass it on to you. In the mean time you can follow the WA Massed Choir on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/massedchoirfestival/ for more news about the event.

Swimming Carnival

The Swimming Carnival is next Friday 5th April. Competing students will be transported to and from the Bayswater Waves pool and participate for free in our first swimming carnival in nearly 20 years. There will be a student meeting next week to pass on safety information to the students and another special surprise for them.

Summer Carnival

Congratulations to all students that competed in today’s summer carnival; early reports are that you played with great sportsmanship and respect for the opposition and officiating adults … you have done our school proud once again. Special congratulations to both our cricket teams and our Speedball team who had great success.

Facebook

Did you know the school now has an official Facebook Page? Based on the success of our 50th Anniversary Fun Day Facebook page, we have decided to start a new Facebook Page to keep our school community better informed. There will be all sorts of information that we will be able to get out to you quickly including information about upcoming events.

We will post photos (including photos of students) on this page. If you have previously told us you do not want your child’s image published, then we will make sure they do not appear on Facebook. Also, we will never name students on Facebook. If you wish to change your child’s photo permissions, please come to the school office at your earliest convenience. Check us out at https://fb.me/AnzacTerracePSOfficial and don’t forget to like our page.

Have a great week,
