Principal’s Post 8 May 2019

Welcome Back to Term 2

Welcome back to Term 2 and our first edition of “From The Principal’s Desk” for the Term.  With the 50th Celebrations taking up the majority of our time, Term 1 was hectic for all staff and students.  Term 2 promises to be a much better one!!

Good luck to all students in Years 3 &5 taking part in NAPLAN Testing next week.  We will again have all students at Anzac Terrace sitting the NAPLAN Tests online.  I know both Year 3 teachers and Year 5 teachers have been preparing their students for the online testing format, and our students are champing-at-the-bit to get into the testing.

Did you miss out on the opportunity to purchase a paver?  Well it’s not too late; the final date has been extended to 24th May.
We are creating a special Memorial Path at the front door of our great school. Become a permanent part of our story. Place your order before the 24th May to ensure your place in history.  Order forms can be found in the 50th Anniversary link on our website.

Technical Difficulties

My apologies to all families regarding the lack of information coming out to parents last term.  We encountered a number of technical difficulties which we believe we now have ironed out and are back on board with our Newsletters and Updates.   Our Connect notices are going strong from the classes and whole school, and we have been updating our Facebook Page (see below).

Did you know the school now has an official Facebook Page?  Based on the success of our 50th Anniversary Fun Day Facebook Page, we have decided to start a new Facebook Page to keep our school community better informed.  There will be all sorts of information that we will be able to get out to you quickly including information about upcoming events.
We will post photos (including photos of students) on this page.  If you have previously told us you do not want your child’s image published, then we will make sure they do not appear on Facebook.  Also, we will never name students on Facebook.  If you wish to change your child’s photo permissions, please come to the school office at your earliest convenience.

Check us out at and don’t forget to like our page.

Swimming Lessons

A quick note to let you know Swimming Lessons for students in Years 3-6 will take place at the end of this term (weeks 9&10).  Costings and more information will be sent to you in the coming weeks.  Students in P/P-Year 2 will be taking part in swimming lessons in Term 3.

With the retirement of Neil Strachan, we are currently in the process of selecting a new Deputy Principal for Anzac Terrace.  The process is arduous and must follow correct Department of Education WA protocols. A panel comprising of myself, a Level 6 Principal and a Level 3 Deputy Principal (both from outside of Anzac Terrace PS) has been convened to read through all applications, shortlist, and then interview prospective applicants.  I will keep you up to date with the process.

Have a great weekend,

Stuart Blackwood
